Rinse has been making these by hand in Monroe, Georgia since 2003. No synthetic detergents, no aluminum in the deodorant, and a scent range that runs rugged to refined — hickory smokehouse, teak and mahogany, worn-in flannel, and a craft beer soap line made with actual beer.

How to build his routine

Three steps, no learning curve.

Wash. A bar of Rugged or Flannel soap in the shower — hickory and smoke, or worn-in flannel warmth. Natural soap doesn't strip skin the way detergent bars do, so it works on face and body both.

Condition. Beard oil goes on a damp beard: three to five drops worked down to the skin underneath, not just the hair. That's where the itch starts. Balm afterward if the beard is long enough to shape.

Finish. Rugged deodorant is aluminum-free and paraben-free. Coming off a conventional antiperspirant, give it two to three weeks — the body adjusts, and the switch sticks after that.
