Tea tree essential oil has more clinical research behind it than almost any other plant extract in skincare. The terpinen-4-ol compound that gives it antimicrobial properties has been studied against bacteria, fungi, and viruses in concentrations consistent with what you'd find in a properly formulated personal care product. This is why tea tree works for acne, why it's effective in foot care and deodorant applications, and why it shows up in everything from facial soap to shampoo bars to bathroom cleaning products. The antimicrobial activity is specific and well-documented — not a marketing claim.

The scent profile of tea tree is clean and medicinal — distinct, slightly herbal, with a freshness that works as a standalone and pairs naturally with peppermint, eucalyptus, and other fresh essential oils.
