Start With What You Put On Your Skin
Most skincare routines are built around what they leave out — no parabens, no sulfates, no synthetic fragrance. That's a reasonable starting point. But a truly natural routine isn't just about subtraction. It's about understanding what your skin actually needs and choosing ingredients that have a track record longer than the last skincare trend cycle.
At Rinse, we've been making handcrafted skin and body care in Monroe, Georgia since 2003. Every product on this page was formulated to work together — cleanser to moisturizer to treatment — so you're building a routine, not just collecting products.
The Foundation: Cleanse and Reset
Natural cleansing starts with removing what your skin accumulated during the day without stripping what it needs. Our powdered facial masks — including Dead Sea Mud, Oatbrasion, Yogurt, and Charclay — are activated with water and work as both cleansing treatments and weekly resets. Dead Sea mud draws out impurities. Oatbrasion gently exfoliates. Yogurt calms and balances. Each one addresses a different skin need without harsh detergents or synthetic lathering agents.
For a gentler daily cleanse, our facial oils double as oil-cleanse primers — a method that's been used for centuries and works particularly well for dry, combination, and sensitive skin types.
The Workhorse: Moisture That Penetrates
Synthetic moisturizers sit on the surface of the skin. Natural oils and tallow-based balms work differently — they penetrate. Grass-fed tallow balm has a lipid profile remarkably similar to human sebum, which is why skin recognizes and absorbs it readily. Squalane, derived from olives, is one of the most effective natural emollients available — lightweight, non-comedogenic, and deeply hydrating. Argan and marula oils each bring their own fatty acid profiles to the routine, making them excellent for face and body use.
The goal isn't to apply the most product — it's to apply the right one for your skin's current state. Dry winter skin needs tallow. Oily summer skin often responds better to squalane. A solid routine adapts to your skin seasonally, not just daily.
The Detail Work: Targeted Treatment
After cleanse and moisture come the targeted steps. Our White Quartz Gua Sha Sculpting Stone supports lymphatic drainage and circulation when used with a facial oil. The Facial Oil Replenish and Squalane Oil Dropper allow precise, layer-by-layer application for skin that needs more concentrated treatment.
Lip care is often overlooked in a skincare routine. Our Skin Stick (Lavender and Unrefined Shea) provides solid moisture on the go, while the Tinted Pucker and Darling Tinted Pucker add a layer of color without petrochemical waxes or synthetic pigments.
The Order of Application
Natural skincare follows the same layering logic as conventional skincare: lightest to heaviest. A general sequence that works well with this collection:
1. Cleanse — powdered facial mask or oil cleanse method
2. Treat — facial oil serum while skin is slightly damp
3. Moisturize — tallow balm or squalane to seal hydration
4. Sculpt — gua sha over facial oil for circulation
5. Protect lips — skin stick or tinted pucker as a final step
You don't need to use every product every day. A minimal morning routine might be just a few drops of squalane and a skin stick. An evening routine might include a mask, a facial oil, and tallow balm. The value of having the right products is that your routine can be as simple or as thorough as your day allows.
Why Handmade Makes a Difference
When a product is made by hand in small batches, the formulator controls every variable. At Rinse, Heather has spent over two decades refining each formula — adjusting ratios, testing ingredient sourcing, and listening to what customers actually experience. That's not something a manufacturing line can replicate at scale.
The difference shows up in the texture, the performance, and the longevity of the results. Skin that is cared for consistently with ingredients it recognizes tends to improve steadily over months, not just temporarily after one application.
